My favorite things.....

I think my favorite piece of technology is my cell phone, I have one since seven years. I lose it many, but always my parents buy other. So witch the time I started to love it. But I don´t consider myself a fan of technology, I use the cell phone to call and like alarm clock. Yet I used every day. So the last time I gone to buy one, I choose a very simple model, It hasn’t camera, either music or video camera, I just can call and I love it, because is simple and easy to use. I sound like an old person, but always lose my things so I don´t spend a lot of money in things like iPhone or Gphone…
My second favorite thing is my notebook; I buy it three years ago and make me so happy. The reason because I wanted it so much is for the university, I never finished my works in home so I needed it. How I don´t know so much about technology I just buy a very beautiful computer, It´s white whit silver lines… Also is a very good machine… I think… but I´m not a geek so I believe that because a workmate said to me…
I use it all the time and it never crash, soy I feel very lucky with my purchase… And still think it has very pretty.

MY CAREER....

I believe that in my career (architecture) they are necessary certain artistic and creative skills, but still there are other qualities that accompany these. To study architecture is necessary to be very responsible and working constant, because every week there is a new work to realize and we don’t have so much time.

I think these qualities brings a creative qualities in architecture but always think and meditate on how to make the project not to be an artist, but if being proactive and always be looking for new ideas.

On the other side, I think accountability is something that one develops with time. In the first year of University It’s hard to all used to the fast time and make it a priority workshop and no family or friends or the holidays. Generally, the persons who cannot prioritize the university go away in the first or second year.

As for the courses, I think there should be more courses of "computer graphics" and "bioclimatic arquitecture"

about the future ... I have this year and next ... I really do not feel so prepared to go to work, even though I've focused on the construction and structures, I feel there is still much to learn, yet I have really wanted to start now to work! ! When finished I will continue studying ...maybe do a Master in another country!!!

Siete Tazas, Molina

I gone to talk about my last vacations in “Siete tazas” (is in the seventh region, close to Molina). I went in February with my boyfriend. Initially we would go in a Bus, but in the last minute hi want go drivering. So, we travelled to Molina. In the road we stop to eat in “Juan y medio”, a restaurant of typical Chilean food. We eat a very big “cazuela”, because they cook giant plates. Then we take the road again and travelled like two hours more. When arrived to Molina, we take a track, but we were not so sure about the track, so we take 3 hours more to arrive :S
We stayed at camping 4 Km from the National Park “Siete tazas”. The next morning we go walking, the park is a beautiful place. It has waterfalls. We saw it and then we knew a few persons who do ecotourism. They offered us to do canyoning. It is to lower the water fall for a rope. I was very nervous but I accepted. So, the next day we went very early to “Velo de la Novia”, a water fall of 80 meters. It`s incredible. So we go down… the water was freezing, and was so high… when we were already down, we do trekking like 3 hours. The landscape was beautiful and we were only 4 persons, so there was no noise. I love this place, but was very sad went it was the earthquake, because “Siete tazas” it emptied. Now it is turning the water…

SHIGERU BAN

For this post I gone to choose a japanese. Shigeru Ban born in 1957. He’sa very interesting architect, because his Works has a point of view very different to the rest. He suggests an architecture kind with the world. So for the Kobe’s earthquake in 1995 he design emergency houses and a new church. His proposal was brilliant, because he choose a very unusual material like is the “PAPER”. He design paper tubes to structure the different buildings. The way how he treat the material was very simple but to the same time so beautiful. He put the tubes in a vertical position to generate a wall. The tubes are very strong and waterpoof, because the paper was treated to resist wieght and the inclemency climate.

The result was very successful. So the ONU sent the differents design of Ban to places has been affected others catastrophes, like Ruanda or Turkey.
Ban has continued designing to a sustainable way. In 2005 create the Nomadic Museum in New York. This time he choose containers to make the museum. The idea is generate a ephemeral building, so he put the containers one by top of the others. In the end the idea is make to disappear the museum. In this case he don´t generate garbage to construct , neither to dismantle the building.
